Omnipotence

So the other day I was thinking about the end of the movie Watchmen, when Dr. Manhattan says he is considering making some new life in a distant galaxy. I started to think of how one with the power to do so might go about doing it, and I stumbled across something strange.

Given the wars, human rights violations, conflict and confusion that belief in a God can cause, the KNOWLEDGE that a God existed, whether vengeful, kind, or completely uninterested in our lives, would cause conflicts of biblical proportions. Its an interesting paradox in my mind, but if God existed and was both omniscient and benevolent, it would behoove it to convince the life it had created that it did not exist. Perhaps it has seen the future of all possible universes and knows that if it reveals itself to humans, that it will ultimately lead to our demise, or at very least greater evil, however you define that.
